In Italy High Schools system will change if the Educational Reform Bill which will soon be presented to the Italian Parliament is approved. Mrs. Letizia Moratti is the present Minister of Education. In the past there were technical, vocational schools and lyceums, while according to the new Reform Bill there will be several kinds of lyceum : art lyceum, classic lyceum, economic lyceum, linguistic lyceum, musical lyceum, scientific lyceum, technological lyceum and humanistic lyceum;

At present in Italy you can choose among several kind of high schools: Vocational, Technical schools or Lyceums. All the high school students attend school for 5 years. In the first two years all the students study the same subjects: Italian, History, Maths, English, Phisycal Education, Religion, Science, Physics, Chemistry. During the last three years the subjects change according to the kind of school chosen. For example, in our school which is a technical school, we study Electronics, Information Technology, Systems. English is a subject studied everywhere. With the new school reform, the high schools will undergo some notable transformations. After the junior secondary school, the students can decide between attending a high school or a vocational school which will allow them to start working soon. Both kinds of school last 5 years and if the students are not convinced of their choice, they can pass from a high school to a vocational one and vice versa. At the end of the 5 year couse the students sit an exam, called “ESAME DI STATO” (state exam). After that, they can decide whether attending University or looking for a job.
